Mid-career academic with more than eighteen years of experience in teaching, training and research. and is currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Department of Educational Policy, NIEPA. Prior to this, she has served as a Teacher Educator at the Department of Education, Centre for Advanced Studies in Education (CASE), The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat at graduate and post graduate levels. Her areas of academic interests are School Education particularly School Leadership, Community participation, Equity issues in schools; Teacher Education, and Professional Development of teachers and school leaders. She has been on the advisory bodies of different state governments for improving school and teacher education as well as the implementation of NEP, 2020. She has also been on different working groups and committees with the Ministry of Education, GOI like Manodarpan, Establishment of ‘Central University of Teacher Education’, ‘Restructuring of DIETs’, ‘Roadmap for School Leadership Development’ and the ‘Developing Guidelines for School Safety and Security’. She is intensively engaged with the field to understand policy and practice gaps in the field of school leadership and evolve contextual models for leading the diversity of schools in India and across South East Asian and African nations. She also has a long experience as a facilitator working with school principals, and system officials at different levels. She has conducted evaluative research studies for the Government of Gujarat to assess the implementation of government policies, programs and schemes like the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Alternative and Innovative Education, functioning of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and Department of School Education and Literacy, MoE which include Assessment of the implementation of NEP, 2020 with special focus on School Complexes, Strengthening of School Education in the North-Eastern Region with special focus on the implementation of Samagra Shiksha and the mid-term assessment of the national initiative on ‘Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society (ULLAS)’. Her current focus is developing a competency framework for mapping School leadership competencies of school leaders across India, an ICSSR funded longitudinal research project.
